I think it’s because it’s always on. We’re a global city with almost no privacy issues, so that is what we do.

And then there are apps like “Location Manager” that keep tabs on where you are (and even allow you to access your location through your device, if you want to go that route). I think we’re just using the location of the phone to keep track of where we are.

Location Manager is basically a web-based app that lets you see all of the places you’ve been. The trick is that you have to have an Android phone, but you can use any computer, laptop, even your phone’s camera.

So why would you want to use a location provider other then your phone? Well, that’s because Location Manager is an Android app that keeps tabs on where you are. Which means its location information is shared with other apps like Google Maps, Google Calendar, and others. Now, I’m not a fan of apps that keep track of where you are, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing either. In reality though, it’s just what we are used to.

Its another reminder that we are all essentially in the same space and that we all have the same experiences. To us, the world is one giant timeline. But because you and I may have different experiences, we all want to share our experiences. The challenge is we are all in each other’s space. And some people want to share those experiences with you and others don’t. As you can see, the location icon is never off. It’s always on and will always be on.

The location icons are a lot easier to find on android. The first time I used to look for them, at my computer, my device was on the other side of the room, but all I had to do was find the icon. Now, its just clicking it in the dark, and then moving the mouse. That’s a lot easier than it used to be.

I had no idea that location icons were available on Android. The best way to find them is to click a circle and see if it moves. If it does, it’s one of those things you can use to access the location icon and that I was looking for.
