I was raised on the farm, where the word spudding is synonymous with a well. So when I heard that a “well” had been dug through the clay, I knew I had to learn more about it. And that would take some time.

The process of digging a well is actually quite simple. It all starts with placing a hole. And drilling a hole in the ground. Then placing a rock in the hole. Then placing a second rock in the hole. And so on. Then the process is repeated.
