It’s important for the good, it is important for the bad to be taken seriously. If you don’t have a good sportsman who is willing to commit to a certain type of sport, what are you going to do? The answer may be “maybe not.
That is why some companies are so eager to use that person that they are willing to pay for that person. They don’t care who it is, the person they are willing to hire may have a different skill level than the one they are willing to hire. That is why you would see companies willing to pay tens of thousands of dollars to hire a person with no athletic experience so they can play basketball.
Sports marketing is a relatively new industry and many people do not understand it. If you are not athletic you should not be in a position to sell your services in this industry. You may be a good athlete and even if you arent, you are worth more than a few thousands of dollars, but unless you are very athletic you are going to never be as proficient as someone with a degree in the field.
That being said, there are some people who may be good athletes and they are in positions that allow them to sell themselves. But the vast majority of people who take a sports marketing class are terrible athletes. The one thing they do seem to understand is that the first thing they need to master in order to be successful is being a good athlete.
Many people have no idea that they are selling themselves. They may look professional, but if they aren’t taking classes in how to be a good athlete they are probably selling themselves as being just like everyone else. I once bought a baseball glove based on the idea that I was going to play baseball. The glove was made by a company that wanted to sell to me, but I wasn’t going to wear it to games.
Well, that is until the company realized that I wore it to games. Then they took a chance on me and made me a glove. I thought I was great at playing baseball, but I wasn’t. I made my wife and son think I was great at baseball.
This is especially true if your business (like I do) is trying to sell to the general public. You want to market the virtues of your sports team and how much fun it is to play the sport, and you want to do this without being condescending. To do this, you have to be professional. Marketing the virtues of a team without being condescending is like selling a product that is better than the competition.
And being a professional means being ethical and honest with your customers. You have to be truthful about what you are offering, and if your product doesn’t meet the requirements of the customer, you have to take the customer out of the equation. In this case, Colt has a product that doesn’t meet the specifications of the customer. He hasn’t done anything to earn the customer’s trust, and that’s a good thing.
The key to being more ethical and honest with your customers is to not only show your product in front of them, but to show you how they’s doing it. It’s one thing to do it, and it’s another to make it look even better.
Its a balancing act that marketers have to make. You can’t just sell them a product and then just leave them there. You have to show them the product and how theys using it. In this case, Colt has a product that doesnt meet the specifications of the customer. He hasnt done anything to earn the customers trust, and thats a good thing.We like to call this “good sportsman marketing.
