When you take an 8k a month road trip, it’s all about the mileage. But what about the miles you’ve already traveled, you’ve already driven? I’ve heard friends say that they’d be better off just running 5k a month (and they’re right! They’d feel great!), but I still think that if you’re going to do it I’d still recommend doing 7k.
Because Ive heard friends say that theyd be better off just running 5k a month and theyre right. Theyd have more time to spend with friends or family and it would probably be more fun. But it all comes back to the mileage. I think we can all agree that it can be a little weird to start out a road trip with a 10k-mile goal and then have your goal drop to 8k miles in the next month.
Yeah, the more mileage you put into a run, the more you tend to feel like youre pushing yourself too hard. But it all comes down to that 10k-mile goal. If your goal is to run a 10k, you just need to try and run a little bit longer than the 10k-mile pace to see how you feel. And then you just need to keep pushing yourself. After all, you cant just run a long mile and expect to be happy.
10k-mile runs are fun, but you have to do them to get better. If you want to speed up your pace, you have to actually do the faster miles. And that means you have to push yourself to the point where you feel like you could just run another 10k-mile. The point is, it’s not about chasing your 10k-mile goal. It’s about chasing your goal.
Yeah, and its about working at it. It’s about making a commitment to yourself, even if it means breaking a sweat. And maybe in the process you can start to feel like you can run faster and faster. If you feel like you can run 10k-miles, then do it. And if you feel like you can run an 8k-mile then do it. If you feel like you can run a mile, then do it. But most important, work at it.
